Clinic at Pacific Country Stables

Clinic at Pacific Country Stables in British Columbia

I did a clinic here over two and a half days. We did some dressage lessons the afternoon I arrived with a couple of private lessons that went very well. For the jumping and the cross-country day we went to Campbell Valley Regional park in Langley and they actually do hold an event there. Langley for me was quite impressive. They have this beautiful big park where there is a cross-country course and also a trail riding facility around the outside of it. I found it was 11 km long because my time clock was a bit out whack so I decided to go for a run and I drove down to this park and ran around the hacking trail. I thought there would be a short cut on the path but there wasn’t and it took me about an hour and a half. So I started myself into that campaign with a bit of a bang to the system. It was a really, nice environment there and there are a lot of 5-15 acre horse properties surrounding the park.

The riders were all really keen and enthusiastic. I think they responded very well to the training that we did which again was a little different to what they get told generally as there is definitely a hunter/jumper influence in North America. Eventing definitely needs a different position than that. I enjoyed doing this clinic very much and look forward to going back.
