The following week saw the road trip move onto Lexington, Kentucky for the North American Junior and Young Rider Championships. Once again it was a busy week for all involved as we combined this week riding the horses, having a trade booth for Southern Stars Saddlery and supporting the Canadian contingent. Canadian Young Rider Sable Giesler was bought into the ranks flying in from Canada to help out with the horses during the week.

It was a great opportunity to ride our team of young horses in the atmosphere and surroundings of the Kentucky Horse Park. They enjoyed schooling sessions in the arena’s and hacks around the XC course getting a look at the 4**** jumps they will all hopefully be jumping in a few years time!
The week was a successful one for Southern Stars and a great opportunity to talk to many of the young riders and pony clubbers in attendance about the great gear that Southern Stars has to offer. Many riders took the opportunity to apply to become a Sponsored Rider for Southern Stars and it was great to see so many ambitious young riders out there competing. We hope to make the announcements shortly regarding the successful applicants so if you haven’t sent in your application yet please visit www.southernstarssaddlery.com and fill out the online application.

From my role as the Canadian Coach it was encouraging to see so many talented junior and young riders competing for Canada in these Championships. It was a great result for Canadian Eventing with David Ziegler winning the Individual Gold and April Simmonds the Individual Bronze in the CCI2** Young Rider Championships.
